Strong
Corporate Support for KL International Motorshow 2000
NEWS RELEASE (for March
28, 2000)
Kuala Lumpur- Tues. Mar 28: Corporate confidence
is running high for the Kuala Lumpur International Motorshow 2000 - a
fourth presentation by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA, formerly
known as Malaysian Motors Traders Association (MMTA)).
Seven major corporations, namely Autoweb Sdn Bhd, Hong Leong Finance Berhad,
Kesas Sdn Bhd, New Straits Times Group, ntv7, and Pan Pacific Hotel Kuala
Lumpur formalized their sponsorship undertakings with the Exhibition Manager
for the KL International Motorshow 2000, the Interexpo (M) Sdn Bhd and
Trade-Link Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd venture, this morning. Cik Aishah
Ahmad, President of MAA, witnessed the signing.
Co-CEO of Interexpo (M) Sdn Bhd and Trade-Link Exhibition Services Sdn
Bhd Venture, Mr. Jonathan Kan said the strong corporate support for the
KL International Motorshow 2000 underscores the importance and proud tradition
of the Show. Interexpo's vast experience and success in the management
of international motor shows in Istanbul, Turkey, plus Trade-Link Exhibition
Services' success at home with Metaltech and Woodtech further ensures
a higher level of success for the KL International Motorshow 2000. "We
have the right synergistic mix, capabilities and capacity to expand the
scope, dimension and expectations for the KL International Motorshow,"
Mr.Kan said.
Presently, the KL International Motorshow to be staged at the Putra World
Trade Centre, over 10 days from November 25 to December 4, has already
secured. 100 percent confirmed sales of initial allocated exhibition space
comprising three halls, plus 90 percent of additional space in Dewan Merdeka;
and confirmed participation of 20 motor manufacturers from seven countries.
Mr. Kan expects a new surge for exhibition space to occur in October,
a month before the Motorshow opens. "We will of course, attempt every
effort to accommodate this demand, but we cannot guarantee to meet the
needs of all in the last minute scramble for participation. This is because
the logistics and technical planning that goes into the organisation of
a motor show demands highest international standards and is very different
from a non-automotive exhibition. "To avoid disappointment, we hope that
interested automotive companies will make their enquiries and confirm
their space bookings within the next one-and-a-half month," he added.
Cik Aishah said the KL International Motorshow is one of MAA's core trade
and community projects. "We are very committed and take great pride in
its presentation --- it is more than just a motor show per se," said Cik
Aishah.
"The KL International Motorshow 2000 will be an enormous automotive window
for all Malaysians, and visitors to Malaysia to have a first-hand look,
feel and review the latest local and global automotive designs, trends,
technology and make. A giant marquee to showcase a fantastic display of
world class "automotive thoroughbreds", some of which will be unveiled
for the first time ever in Southeast Asia," she explained.
Cik Aishah said that MAA's decision to present KL International Motorshow
2000 this year was the Association's signature of confidence in Malaysia's
economic foundation. At the function, Cik Aishah also launched the KL
International Motorshow 2000 website. "With the Internet now becoming
an increasingly important medium of communications, it is essential that
news, details and updates about the KL International Motorshow is easily
accessible on the net," she added. The KL International Motor Show 2000
website URL is www. autoworld, com. my/klimotorshow2000.
Mr Kan expressed confidence that the Show will draw in motor enthusiasts
by the tens of thousands daily. "On the average, car owners go for a change
of model every 3-4 years, the KL International Motorshow in November will
offer them a very good opportunity to review the world's latest and best
to help in their purchasing decision," he concluded.
The KL International Motorshow is owned and presented by the MAA once
in every four years. (The MAA is the sole authorized body representing
the automotive manufacturers and traders in Malaysia)
